dental bone grafting and dental implants

In a recent article in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (72: 286-291, 2014), surgeon describe a technique of using a thin shell of bone graft to raise the soft tissue for vertical augmentation. Gaining vertical bone height is the hardest to accomplish for dental implants. By using a thin shell of bone to support the soft tissue, bone chips could be used under the shell to gain bone volume. This allowed for quick bone consolidation. This new technique may have promise in helping gain vertical height. Always see an experienced surgeon and discuss what options you have concerning dental implants.
